True Love

Author's Note: I wrote this piece to describe how I understand the theme of a story.

Imagine your throat burning so bad that it feels like a hot curling iron being shoved down it. What if you had urge to kill someone 24-7 because you thirst for their blood? But what if you can’t? What if that one person is the person who you couldn’t live without and couldn’t bear being in a world where they didn’t exist? This is how one of the main characters Edward Cullen  feels in the  book Midnight Sun , by Stephanie Meyer, which is Edward’s  viewpoint of the book Twilight. Throughout the story Edward is struggling to control his thirst  while he is in the presence of another main character, Bella Swan, who he is determined to keep alive.  Overall, there are many themes in this story but the two main themes are struggles and determination. You will find that if you love someone truly, that you will do anything for them.

Throughout the story one of the main themes is Edward struggles to control his thirst when he is around Bella. When he first gets near Bella’s, he says “ Her scent hit me like a wrecking ball, like a battering ram. Thirst burned through my throat like fire.”. Although Edward is a vegetarian vampire, which means he only drinks animal blood, Bella’s blood appeals to him more than any other humans blood. This means that Edward has to be extra careful that he doesn’t get to close to Bella so that he won’t hurt her. When Edward tries to avoid Bella, it doesn’t work out to well for him. Instead he wants to get to know her even more as he says in the book “ I don’t have the strength to stay away from you anymore”. As Edward and Bella start talking and getting to know each other more, Edward soon finds out that he is in love with her. He knows that he couldn’t live in a world where she didn’t exist. He knew that his thirst couldn’t be an issue when he was around Bella. He was determined to love her.

In addition to being determined to love her, determination is also a theme in this story. Although he is determined to love her, keeping her alive is also a priority. For Edward, Bella’s protection is top priority. He has to keep an eye on her given that she is a very unsafe or as Edward says “You are a magnet for trouble Bella.” When Bella is alone in Port Angeles one night, some men want trouble and almost do something very terrible to Bella. Just in time, Edward shows up. When he and Bella are alone she tells him all her theories about him and he soon realizes that she knows what he is, a vampire. Edward is now free from all the lies and can tell her everything now. Although he is happy she knows the truth about him, he is also determined to make sure he acts as human as possible around him so that he doesn’t break “a fragile human” as Edward says in the story.

The emotion of determination and struggle remind me of the character Katniss in the novel The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Edward and Katniss relate to each other because they both struggle to do the right thing for the one they love. In The Hunger Games , Katniss is struggling to keep herself alive in the arena. While she is in the arena she is also thinking of the boy from her district Peeta who she is determined to keep alive.  During the story Katniss isn’t sure if she should try to protect Peeta not knowing if it’s a good decision, just like Edward not knowing if he should love Bella.  Overall there is a connection between struggles and determination. Almost always whenever you are struggling with something you are determined to overcome it.

Overcoming his mixed emotions for Bella required him to go through many challenges. He had to make a decision if he wanted to kill an innocent girl, or fall deeply in love with her by putting her in danger. By making his decision of wanting to get to know her, she surprisingly felt the same way. Bella also learns that she has to be very careful around Edward due to his thirst for her blood. They both learn that if you truly love someone you will go through anything for them.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas prediction

Author’s Note: I wrote this as my prediction piece about what I think is going to happen in the book , The Boy in the striped Pajamas.

In the book The Boy in the Striped Pajamas , one of the main characters named Bruno wants to know what is going on behind the fence near his home. When Bruno gets a closer look at what is behind the fence he meets a boy named Shmuel . I tells Bruno that he doesn’t know why he is on the other side of the fence.  Bruno seems very interested on why there are so many people on the other side of the fence and why they are there. I predict that Bruno is going to try to make his way to the other side of the fence with Shmuel to see what is going on and possibly try to help him. When he gets to the other side I think that Bruno is going to get mistaken for one of the prisoners in the camp and they will kill him by accident not knowing that he was the son of one of the leaders running the concentration camp.

If this does happen in the end I think it would kind of relate to when Prim died in Mocking Jay. The reason I say this is because Prim was a little girl who was trying to help all the people getting hurt.  I think Bruno would relate to her because he was trying to help his friend and ended up dying for doing so.

Character Analysis: Touching Spirit Bear

Author’s Note: I wrote this piece for my character development project. When I wrote this, it reminded me how much character’s change throughout the book . It also reminded me of some other books I have read and how they are similar to this one.

In the beginning of the book Touching Spirit bear , by Ben Mikaelson,  the main character, Cole has a horrible reputation.  He doesn’t get along with anyone including his parents and his parole officers.  When Cole is sent to Jail for beating up a kid, he decides that he can’t stay in a jail cell. Cole is given the option to go to a group called “Justice Circle” where they send you to an island for a year so that you can get a chance to find yourself. When Cole gets to the island he gets off to a bad start. Yet, when he gets a chance to go back, he takes it more seriously. He  starts to make decisions that change his personality in great ways.

When Cole first gets on the island, he makes some very bad decisions by trying to escape the island but does not succeed. When Cole gets mauled by the spirit bear, he gives more respect to people and animals.  He gets a second chance to go back and starts to understand why he was sent there . To learn his lesson.  He starts to do things  that he wouldn’t have thought in a million years he would do. The things his therapist and parole officer teach him affect him greatly. At first he refuses to do the things like carrying the ancestor rock in the morning  or going for a morning soak. This helps Cole think about what he did wrong and why he shouldn’t have done it. He starts a routine in which helps him develop a kinder and more calm personality.  When his parole officer comes to see  how he is doing, he is shocked that Cole is using his methods and that they are really helping him.

Furthermore, Cole’s attitude changed toward Peter, the kid who Cole beat up and got sent to prison for doing so. Before the island, Cole thought that changing his personality would never happen. Turns out that it wasn’t really that hard. When Cole realized what he did to Peter he felt horrible and wanted to undo it knowing that he couldn’t. Garvey, Cole’s parole officer, tells Cole that he had beaten Peter so bad that he has tried to commit suicide. Cole takes this very personally. He wants to help Peter. People like Garvey and Cole’s therapist see that he isn’t a self obsessed jerk anymore. They see that he really wants to help Peter and that he now respects him.

Not only did Cole’s attitude change towards the Peter, but it changed towards his parents who he thought he hated. Before Cole was sent back to the island for a second chance. He got a chance to talk to his mother. She told him how his father was no in prison because of the fact that before the island Cole’s father was abusive to him. Cole’s attitude changes towards his Father because his mother tells him how his father was abused as a child. Cole knows now that getting beat up was a life style for his father and forgives him and gets why he did it. He also forgives his mother for never standing up for him. Cole realizes that it wasn’t his parents fault for his horrible behavior.

In the book Touching Spirit Bear, Cole reminds me of Roger, the main character in the short story Thank you ma’am. In the story roger is a poor boy who just thinks he can do whatever he wants and can get away with it, just like Cole. Roger then gets caught doing something terrible to Mrs. Jones and she takes him back to her house to teach him a lesson just like how the island was supposed to teach Cole a lesson. When Roger gets to Mrs. Jones house , he is surprised how respectfully she was treating him. Roger ended up getting all that he needed and all he needed to do was have a good attitude, just like Cole.

In the end of the book, Cole’s new image has given everyone a shock. Instead of people being afraid of Cole, they now want to be friends with him. Cole’s mother is now more active in her sons life and his attitude reflects off of that because he knows someone finally cares about him. Peter has also taken a liking to Cole. Since Cole helped Peter get out of this mess, Peter understands that Cole is a better person and doesn’t have to be afraid of him anymore.  Cole finally appreciates the help he got and the new relationships with the ones who care for him.

Patriots Pen

Author's Note: I wrote this piece to talk about why I think America has changed.

Dear George Washington,
Congratulations of being the first president of United States. I am writing to you to talk about the great things you have done for our country.  Although you had things going good back 1700’s, a lot has changed including the invention of technology has now been created and most importantly, our American rights! I believe that life for America would be very different today if things in its past hadn’t changed.
One of the things that has changed greatly from when you were president is the new technology. Instead of an old fashioned telephone that comes out of the wall, we have cell phones. On cell phones you can call people from any destination. What I’m trying to say is that a cell phone is like a telephone that you can take anywhere! We also have this thing called a computer which is a device where you can hold a bunch of information instead of writing it all out on paper. This is a device has helped our generation extremely.
While we are enjoying these wonderful devices, there is also another thing that has impacted America greatly.  American rights have been changed! In my opinion the biggest thing dealing with American rights is slavery. Today, there is no slavery in America. All people including African Americans are treated the same. All Americans ,even if you are a different race are treated equally.  According to UEN Education Network, slavery ended in 1865 which was about a year after you became president.
All together I think you seem like you were a great president. You did so much for America and I am glad you got our country to a great start. I think that if you were never president things would not be how they were today. Things today in America would be very different today if things in the past hadn’t changed.

Sincerely,
Reynna Nelson

The Hunger Games- cause and effect

Author's Note: I wrote this piece on the cause and effect of the book The Hunger Games.

In the book the book The Hunger Games there were 13 districts to start off with. District thirteen then lead a rebellion along with the other districts against the capitol. When they did this the capitol defeated all if the districts. District thirteen was then destroyed.

In effect to this the capitol designed a game called The Hunger Games. In these games they take 24 children between the ages of 12 and 18 to fight to their deaths every year and only one person will be  crowned the victor. The capitol created the games so that they could show the districts that they have complete control over them and do whatever they want to them.

The Hunger Games: Conflict and Resolution

Author's Note: I wrote this piece on the conflict and resolution of the book The Hunger Games.

In the book The Hunger Games, the main conflict is Katniss and Peeta and vs. Society.  In the book the Game makers  which is like the government, hosts an event in which they pick twenty-four kids to fight to their deaths in the annual Hunger Games. When Katniss and Peeta are chosen, they get put into the and somehow they are the last two standing in the end.
The resolution to the book is since there cannot be two victors of the games, Katniss and Peeta threaten to kill themselves so that the capitol will crown them both victors. The game makers fall for their  scam and Katniss and Peeta both get to be crowned victors. Since this happened, it proves that they were more powerful then the game makers

Camping Catastrophe

Authors Note: As you read this think about if you have ever been in a terrible storm.

The clock on my bedside table read 6:00 a.m. I smiled to myself and almost jumped out of bed. No matter how early it was, I was excited to be heading camping with my aunt, uncle, and cousins. I quickly made my way down the stairs, and into the kitchen.  As I peek around the corner I see that all my cousins have already arrived. I sprint as I make my way upstairs to get dressed. I mutter a quick hello, chow down my breakfast, and make my way upstairs to get dressed. As I finished getting ready I look outside and see they have already started to pack the trailer. I sprint downstairs and out the door. As I say goodbye to my parents, I get more and more excited on finally being able to get on the road.

  4 Hours Later

We were finally there and had unpacked everything. As we ate dinner, I began to notice that sky was no longer sunny and bright. It had turned a dark blue and the clouds were a dark shade of gray. I asked my aunt if it was supposed to rain tonight and she said it was only supposed to be a quick storm and would pass over soon. As we got done with dinner, we all went to the bathrooms so we didn’t have to go out in the rain while we were sitting in the tents.  My aunt suggested that we take a short drive to the bathrooms instead of risking walking and possibly getting all wet. All 10 of us loaded into the little Honda and road down the short dirt road . As we  sprinted out the car , it seemed like the clouds were even darker. I rushed to go to the bathroom and sure enough when I got outside, it was down pouring.
We all squished into the car as the lightning and thunder became more frequent. My aunt drove down the now wet dirt road in a hurry. As we got back to the camp sight the winds were more extreme and one of the tents had already blown over.  I could see my uncle trying to take the tents down so they wouldn’t fold over and break from the winds, but (THE ) steaks wouldn’t come out of the ground. (FINALLY, INSTEAD OF SOON)  Soon my aunt turned on the radio . We all listened very closely so that we could hear how long this storm would last. Moments later we got the information we needed. Apparently the storm as supposed to last for another three hours!  We all moaned because we knew we wouldn’t be getting any sleep tonight. Then, we heard a faint knock on the car window.
As my aunt slid down the wet car window, a young boy appeared. While he was shivering, he asked if we wanted to stay in his trailer with his family and himself until the storm was done. Of course we accepted the offer. I scurried out of the car as the little boy ran back to his trailer across the street. We all sprinted out of the car, across the road, and into the trailer.  Inside the trailer was two sitting areas, a flat screen television, an amazing kitchen, a bathroom, two bunk beds, and another additional bedroom. We all (WERE) very awkward , accept for my aunt, because we didn’t know these people at all.  I sat down at one of the seating areas . Soon everybody did. The owner of the trailer had turned on a movie for some of my younger cousins to watch , but apparently everybody wanted to because they knew we would be here a while.
About two hours later my uncle came in with some news. Apparently we were to going to stay at a motel for the night. We were all grateful, but sad that our first night camping wasn’t going to be spent in tents. As we drove into the parking lot it was still pouring out. My uncle started unpacking some of the blankets from his car . Then told us the room number and that all ten of us were going to fit into a two bed room, but none of us cared. We just wanted to this night to be over. I ended up sleeping on the floor along with my sister. As soon as I laid my head on my pillow, I was happy that the night was over, and soon enough I was out like a light.

Silence

Author's Note: I wrote this piece because I wanted a suspenseful story. From reading all kinds of mysteries and suspenseful books, I decided to give it a try.

Jenna woke up to the smell of rusty nails, and motor oil. Her legs were cramped, her side hurt, and the taste of blood was stale in her mouth. The feeling of death lingered in the air, or what was left of it in the unbelievably hot tool shed. Suddenly, a loud creek aroused. The door was opening.

The sizzling of bacon, the chirping of blue jays: these were the sounds that Jenna Smith awoke to. It was a perfect October morning, and yet something was off. Shrugging the thought off was easy enough because Jenna could smell pancakes, and bacon waiting for her in the kitchen. Jenna walked down the hallway, and was surprised to see both Jerry (her stepfather), and mother were at the kitchen table. “Mom, Jerry why are you here?” Jenna’s mother smiled and looked at her husband. “Well we do own the place Jenna,” her stepfather joked. Jenna sat at the table, and sluggishly began eating her pancakes and bacon. “So are you going to tell me about the huge surprise? What is it?” Her mother answered quickly “We’re going to Madison for the day.” Jerry and her mother then looked down, and feasted on their pancakes and orange juice. Jenna didn’t get it. How was this such a big deal that the one day her parents were actually home they couldn’t talk to her about their trip to Madison? “So Mom, why are we going to Madison?” Silence. That was what Jenna heard at the end of her question. “Well, sweetie to put it nicely……you can’t come.” The pancakes, the bacon was a just a trick so they could put her down gently about leaving her alone all day. Every day she was alone, and bored, and afraid. It was happening again. Silence, silence, silence, silence. “Oh. Yeah, I totally understand. Business right? I can just, ummm you know hang out with friends all day. Really, no biggy.” Silence. It was a huge biggy. “Thanks for understanding darling. We love you, but we have to go now,” said Jenna’s mom. Kisses, hustling, scraping of bags, key jingling, door slamming, car starting. Silence.

I was in New York City; Times Square was so beautiful during the night. There was no one on the street. As I walk further down the street, my footsteps sound like booming thunder as I walk farther and farther along. As I walk closer into sight of the Empire State Building, I look up and see just how tall it really is. The moment my gaze drops from the building , I look and a dark looming figure is standing 30 feet away. My feet felt like they were being held together by ropes. It is inching closer to my stiff body, and was so close I could smell its cologne. Its mouth opened when suddenly….. I awake to the growling of my stomach. It seems like forever ago that I had bacon and pancakes. As I’m walking to the kitchen I remember how bacon and pancakes used to be my favorite food when my mom and dad were still married. I like Jerry, but I barely get to see me dad. The refrigerator hums as I open the door. The it pasta is on the lower shelf and as I’m leaning down to get my the food I see a large sneaker under the refrigerator door. Silence.

I wake to see my hands and legs were tied ,my mouth was gagged, and I am sitting on the dusty floor of a tool shed. There were many sharp gardening tools surrounding me. First thing that comes to my mind is why I am in this strange place? I know that the first thing I have to do is untie these poorly tied knots. Whoever tied me up was a real amateur. As soon as I was free from the knots, I took a look around to see what I could use to unlock the door. Suddenly , a loud creek aroused and the door was opening. My first thought was to grab a shovel and hit the mysterious person in the head. As it stepped into the light my first thought was to hit hard. My hit was perfectly put into the temples of its head. It looked unconscious so I took a few steps forward and removed the mask from its head. It was my father. Silence.

Panic spread throughout my body. Why was he here? How did he find me? Why was he doing this? I had no time for questions. I sprinted out of the tool shed and locked the door behind me. There was no way for him to get out. I can see my own house from the shed which lay in the woods. My feet couldn’t move fast enough as I ran to my house. No sooner had I dialed 9-1-1 when the police showed up, weapons in hand. I cautiously make my way to the shed explaining what happed. As the police shoot off the lock the door swings right open. I look inside to see nothing. No word from me. No word from the police. No rustle of the leaves. Silence.

The Hunger Games

Author's Note:As you read this, think about what would happen if you were in The Hunger Games for real.

It was a dark stormy night in the hunger games and I have sheltered myself in a cave. I hear a rumble outside that I know wasn't thunder or a cannon telling me someone was dead. It was a person. I look outside and I see a beat up body on the slippery rock. Its Claus, my ally that i lost while the careers were chasing us.I rush over to see if he is unconscious . He is, so i pull out my bottle of water trying to wake him up. I seems that his pulse is very strong so that means that he was running. My theory is that there was someone chasing him. I take Claus’s body and put him in the cave and put his head on my jacket, I go out of the cave and try to hunt the predator that was chasing. When I come back I see Claus awake and he has a knife in his hand.,I tell him that I’m on his team and that I am trying to protect him. He stays still with his eyes wide open. I go over to check his pulse and its not there.i try to shake him and as I do, I see a knife has been stabbed into his back. Someone must have had found him while I was out looking for the predator who seems to have found me now. I go back to the cave to pay Claus my respect and then I leave, ready to get revenge on whoever murdered my ally.

The Butterflies point of View

Authors Note: As you read this think about what it would be like to be a butterfly. Think abut the highs and the lows of being an insect.

It seemed to be fairly warm the day I woke up and rose of of my cocoon. My wings were bright pink with a splash of light blue. I felt like I was a new insect. I went from being stupid old caterpillar to beautiful butterfly over the course of a week. I want to try out my new wings so I start flapping my wings and there I go. I am flying. I feel so alive! I soar over the town of Pewaukee and I see the people who now look like insects.I spend the rest of the day flying and getting used to my wings. When I get back to my home I rest on my wings and fall asleep preparing for the next day.

The Beach

Author's Note: While you read this think about the joys of the beach and why you like it.

As the waves crash onto the shore,
its like hands of the sea pounding on the surface.
Water that is crystal clear,
and as blue as the sky on that warm afternoon.
As the waves ripple I see little turtles swim by.
The sand that I am tanning on is burning hot,
like bacon on a skillet.
This is my day at the beach.

A day in the future

Author's Note: As you read this think about what non-realistic

It was a beautiful saturday morning and I woke up to go get some breakfast. As I walk down the lovely staircase, I get a glimpse of our rustic kitchen. As I walk into the kitchen I see my husband, Peeta Mellark, making me bread. He welcomes me with a good morning and I say it back. As we eat our bread together, we watch a Lifetime Movie on LMN (Lifetime Movie Network). I get up when the movie is done to go and get dressed. I come down stairs and I tell Peeta that I am going to visit my friend Savannah so that we can go see a movie. I head out I get into my yellow Jeep Wrangler and open the roof. Of course I can have my roof open because its the as hot as a sauna outside. While I’m getting out of the car to go to her house, I spot her and her husband Haymitch sitting on the porch drinking tea. I say “hello” to the both of them and tell Savannah that we are going to go to see a movie. It turns out we go to see the Avengers  and then we go to lunch. The rest of the time with Savannah goes on. I find a car in my driveway that doesn’t belong to Peeta or myself. I get out of my car and I see my friend Emily sitting and talking with Peeta. I ask her why she is there in a non-offensive way and she tells me that she is here to take me to a Keith Urban concert in which is my favorite artist. I started to jump with excitement and before we know it we are at the concert and having a great time.

Oil Drilling in Alaska

Authors Note: As you read this think about why drilling oil in Alaska isn’t good for many people or animals. Consider that it might not even help if America does this.

What if somebody just showed up and decided they wanted to start drilling oil on your land? This is what America is planning to do to Alaska’s wildlife for the sake of lower gas prices, although the U.S. has more then enough gas to last the future.  America should absolutely not drill oil on Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Reserve.

The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is one of the only large refuges left in America. If the U.S. drilled for oil in Alaska, it would disturb the wildlife. The animals would be affected because of all the noise and the big machines and they would leave. If the animals would try to leave, there might be a chance that they would get injured by going onto the highways. Not only does this take away homeland to the animals, but to the native Eskimos too. It’s not fair to take away their homes for the sake of more gas. Already 70% of the American people support protecting the National Wildlife Refuge according to the Courtesy of the National Resources Defense council.

Even though the drilling may affect the way animals live, it will also affect the way that people live too. The safety for the humans is just as bad. Unfortunately, fuel isn’t his most friendly source for the air. If you have ever walked behind a car and choked on the fumes, you know it isn’t good for the air and only causes pollution. There are also accidents while drilling oil. For example; pipe leaks, accidents from transportation, and oil spills. This would get people in all kinds of accidents. According to ecoworld.com , we would save three times the amount of oil for the future if we didn't drill oil in the refuge.

In addition to more gas, it wouldn’t even help the economy much.  It wouldn’t be worth it to destroy the Arctic Refuge, and only get only a six month supply of oil. Although the Gas prices might go down the small amount of 4%, they would most likely rise back to the original amount within six months. When it is gone, the gas prices are predicted to go back up to the original price or go even higher. It will then be even less affordable for everyone across the country. Another reason why the U.S. shouldn’t be drilling even more oil is because America already uses 25% to 30% of the world’s oil and only three percent of it is on its own reserves according to The Courtesy of the Arctic Wildlife Organization. The only way for us to reserve using so much oil is to develop alternatives, like an electric car for example.

Overall, drilling oil in the Arctic Wildlife Reserve is a horrible idea. When it comes down to everything, it would just make things worse. The home to many would be destroyed and the safety for many would be affected. America should stay away from the consequences that this decision may have.

Love Hurts

Author's Note: As you read this, think about someone you love. Love is one of the greatest things God has created. To love you have to take risk things, and go after them if they leave. Remember that love isn't always perfect, it can be a struggle. Overall, love is something you should never give up on. Remember this as you read.

“There was a light, unnatural breeze. My eyes flashed open. The leaves on a small vine maple shuddered with the gentle wind of his passage. He was gone. Love,life,meaning.....over.” This is a quote from The Twilight Saga: New Moon by Stephanie Meyer; which is about Edward leaving Bella for her own safety; he wants her to have a better life without him. How would you feel if someone left you and you didn’t know the reason why? If someone ever leaves you , they will come back if they really love you.

In the beginning of the book, it’s Bella's birthday and the Cullen's decide to throw a party for her. She opens a gift from Carsisle and Esme( the parents), gets a paper cut,and nearly dies when Edward’s brother-- Jasper-- attacks. Edward feels guilty that he is always putting Bella in some sort of danger. Unlike Edward though, Bella doesn’t care much about it, though she starts to see how guilty Edward is feeling. Guilt will often make you feel like you did something wrong. People you are close to may start to see that this is changing you, and they may start to detach from your life.

While Edward is feeling guilty ,Bella starts to realize that he can’t protect her from everything, and that he cant do everything for her. Then, the unexpected happens. Edward tells Bella that he must leave her, and that he doesn't want her anymore. He doesn't love her. If someone leaves you, you have to believe that they are doing something to protect you. As Bella tries to overcome Edward leaving her, she catches up with and old family friend --Jacob Black. He helps her get back to her normal self, but then things take a turn for the worst. He isn’t the person she thought he was -- he is a werewolf. Even though he was changing, she didn't just walk away. She tried her hardest to get him back to the way he was before: a friend, a protector, and someone who could help her cope with the loss of Edward. When somebody changes, you shouldn’t give up, but you should help support their new lifestyle changes:especially if they helped you overcome yours.

In addition to Jacob changing, Bella’s life changes too. Alice--Edward’s sister-- comes back to check up on Bella. She tells her about how she saw Bella jump off a cliff, and that Edward wanted to die too ,because he felt like it was his fault. Bella and Alice drive to Volterra-- the city where Edward plans to kill himself-- and Bella gets to him before he has the chance to expose himself. She tells him that he just cant go off and kill himself because he feels guilty about something that she did. It turns out that he didn’t go because he felt guilty, but because he couldn't live in a world that she didn’t exist in. Even though Edward left Bella and didn't mean to hurt her, its not always like that in the real world. Sometimes people leave and they never come back, but you have to live with it. For example, if you really believe that you love someone and that they love you the same way, then suddenly they change their mind about you, moping around like Bella doesn’t help. You have to learn to get on with your life.

Even if someone leaves you, they’ll come back if they really love you. If someone really does care about you and want to protect you, they will do anything to do so --including leaving. In addition to that they will come back if they really cant live without you. “I thought back to those last days of my life before he left me,tried to see them through the filter of what he was telling me now. From the perspective imagining that he’d left me while loving me, left me for me.” (513-514)

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse - Trust

Author’s Note: You can only really trust someone if you honestly know them. As you read this think about if you have ever gotten to know someone who has betrayed your trust.

“In dead silence, all the details suddenly fell into place for me with a burst of intuition. Something Edward didn’t want me to know. Something Jacob wouldn’t have kept from me. It was never going to end, was it?” (79)  This is a quote from The Twilight Saga: Eclipse by Stephanie Meyer which talks about the ways of trust.  Trust is an important topic in life where you can never really trust someone until you truly get to know them.
In the beginning of this book, Edward attempts to keep a secret from Bella. Suddenly  unexpected visit from Bella's friend comes and tells her all the details. Bella isn’t sure if she can trust Edward anymore. Although Edward couldn't keep the fact that a bunch or vampires are trying to kill her, he tries to tell her the reason he lied to her. To protect her. One of the most important things in life is trust. If you can’t trust someone how can you ever tell when they are telling the truth? In this case it was a lie of protection. Edward didn’t lie to hurt her, but to keep her from the bad things that might have had happened if he had told her.
In addition to Edward not being trustworthy to Bella, Edward can’t trust Bella either. Since Bella is in love with Edward, they spend almost all of their time together. Bella doesn't get a chance to spend time with her other friends including her best friend, the ‘werewolf’, Jacob black. Edward is scared that Jacob will lose control and attack Bella. This is a really big problem in Bella and Edward’s relationship. They don't understand the importance of trust. On the other hand they care far to much about each other to let that affect there relationship.
As if their relationship wasn't complicated enough, vampires are coming to kill Bella. Bella is trying to stop the fight from happening but her persuading fails. Finally she understands why Edward didn’t want to tell her about the fight. She knows that he was actually trying to save her from all the overwhelming emotions that may overcome her. In life it's important to understand the reasons why someone does a certain thing. That reason is most likely to be that they are just trying to protect you.
Once you truly get to know someone you  are able to put you trust into their hands. In the end relationships end up happy and loving. You learn new things about each other that make them love each other even more.  “He once again slid my ring into place on my third finger on my left hand. Where it would stay, conceivably for the rest of eternity.”(620) As time passes love generates and gets stronger, just like Bella and Edward.

My Favorite Quote

Authors Note: While you are reading this think about a time that was rough for, and then about how you got through it.

NEVER REGRET ANYTHING- If you are always regretting things, you will always be miserable. If you regret  things in you past , think about happy times that you have had and the happy times you have to come. If you are always unhappy and blaming yourself, it can lead to terrible things. If you cant get something off of your mind, find something that you can distract yourself with so that you don't think about.

BECAUSE AT ONE POINT, IT WAS EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANTED-  When you do think of something you regret, remember that at one point in time, it was something that you wanted. Also think of the reason why you wanted it.  When I am in those kind of situations I look at the bright side of it. For example what came out my decision that I liked. I don't think it ever helps to look at something in a negative way because its just putting more pressure and stress on yourself. The lesson to be learned is not to put yourself down and to look at the bright side of things.

The Ocean

Author's Note: As you read this, think about any time you have been at an ocean.

Sun beating down on the sand,
making it burning hot,
waves crashing against the shore,
making ripples as they got he opposite way,
water, blue with a touch of teal,
and sand, tan as can be.

Ocean water on the tides,
Crashing against the shore,
Entirely covered in a light blue color,
Always in a soothing motion,
Not a bad place to be.

"Cold as you"

Author's Note: As you are reading this think about any tough time you have ever had in your life.

 "Cold As You"
By; Taylor Swift

You have a way of coming easily to me- (You have a way of making me want you.)
And when you take, you take the very best of me- (When I'm with you you are just using me.)
So I start a fight cause I need to feel something- ( I try to put my self against you because you make me feel horrible about myself.)
And you do what you want cause I'm not what you wanted-( And you use me like a toy and then throw me away.)

Oh what a shame, what a rainy ending given to a perfect day- ( You ruin  perfect day when I'm with you.)
Just walk away, no use defending words that you will never say-( Just stay out of my life so that i can get you out of my head.)
And now that I'm sitting here thinking it through- ( And now i realize that i don't need you.)
I've never been anywhere cold as you-( And ill never know anyone as harsh you are when you are with me.)

You put up walls and paint them all a shade of gray- ( You try to keep me with you just to hurt me.)
And I stood there loving you and wished them all away-( I was always there for you but you never even cared.)
And you come away with a great little story- (You make up excuses to ignore me.)
Of a mess of a dreamer with the nerve to adore you- ( I have the nerve to still be with you.)

Oh what a shame, what a rainy ending given to a perfect day-( You ruin  perfect day when I'm with you.)
Just walk away, no use defending words that you will never say-( Just stay out of my life so that i can get you out of my head.)
And now that I'm sitting here thinking it through-( And now i realize that i don't need you.)
I've never been anywhere cold as you-( And ill never know anyone as harsh you are when you are with me.)

You never did give a dang thing honey but I cried, cried for you-( You never cared about me, you were just using me.)
And I know you wouldn't have told nobody if I died, died for you-( Even if i died for you, you still would still be as mean and harsh as you are now.)

Oh what a shame, what a rainy ending given to a perfect day- ( You ruin  perfect day when I'm with you.)
Every smile you fake is so condescending-(every time you smile its because you betrayed me and hurt me.)
Counting all the scars you made-(The number of times you have hurt me and i never gave up on you.)
And now that I'm sitting here thinking it through--( And now i realize that i don't need you.)
I've never been anywhere cold as you --(I’ve never been in a more cold place than where I was with you.)

Christmas Present

Author's Note: While you are reading this ask yourself your favorite present you got for Christmas.

It all started one day in a factory. Oh the factory. Such a terrible place to live. Well the factory is a place that those, humans, made me something I'm not. Before that horrid place I was just a plain piece of fabric. Living my life as a piece of fabric would. But then, one day, I was taken to a factory and they started ripping me up and putting my back together. As I was put through this surgical production, I was made into some odd figure that the factory workers call a “slipper”. But apparently I was not a regular slipper. I was a slipper that was in a boot form. Even thought I was not a very happy with these factory workers, they did make me quite stylish. They described me as soft, pink ad grey, and striped. Then came that one day when I was done being made. I was shoved into a box and shipped some where. People would come and try me on and then just leave me there. I despised this place. I actually liked the factory better. But then one day, a lady came and picked me up and bought me.
I didn't know what was going on. I was taken out pf my box and put into a bag along with too other items. A bracelet and a necklace. I was in there for a while but then one day I was taken to a strange house. There were a lot of people at this house. They also had bags and wrapped items. I was confused at the moment. People were all eating, talking, and there were kids running around. Suddenly I heard every one say that it was gift exchange time. As all the other items were sitting on the floor they began to move and so did I. The items and myself were passed to each of the children. I was one of the last to be open. The necklace and the bracelet were opened before me and i was opened next. This human seemed very happy that she got me. Then she thanked the humans that gave me to her and put me on.
I felt so free that I was out of that box. But being on someones feet felt kind of nasty. As this human squished me against the floor every time she took a step, it began to start hurting. Even though she had only had me on for about twenty minutes, she took me off saying she didn't want to wear me out. So I  was placed back into the box. Hours later i heard someone say “good bye everybody, drive safe.” When all the humans had left she had come back to take me out of the box and put me on.  I didn’t mind being put back on her feet. I was really small in that box. As the week went in I was warn more and more. I suddenly started loving this life. No more factories, or random people trying me on in the store. I had finally found my home.
