Author's Note: I wrote this piece to talk about why I think America has changed.
Dear George Washington,
Dear George Washington,
Congratulations
of being the first president of United States. I am writing to you to talk
about the great things you have done for our country. Although you had things going good back
1700’s, a lot has changed including the invention of technology has now been
created and most importantly, our American rights! I believe that life for
America would be very different today if things in its past hadn’t changed.
One
of the things that has changed greatly from when you were president is the new
technology. Instead of an old fashioned telephone that comes out of the wall,
we have cell phones. On cell phones you can call people from any destination.
What I’m trying to say is that a cell phone is like a telephone that you can
take anywhere! We also have this thing called a computer which is a device
where you can hold a bunch of information instead of writing it all out on
paper. This is a device has helped our generation extremely.
While
we are enjoying these wonderful devices, there is also another thing that has
impacted America greatly. American
rights have been changed! In my opinion the biggest thing dealing with American
rights is slavery. Today, there is no slavery in America. All people including
African Americans are treated the same. All Americans ,even if you are a
different race are treated equally. According to UEN Education Network, slavery
ended in 1865 which was about a year after you became president.
All
together I think you seem like you were a great president. You did so much for
America and I am glad you got our country to a great start. I think that if you
were never president things would not be how they were today. Things today in
America would be very different today if things in the past hadn’t changed.
Sincerely,
Reynna
Nelson
